These are the screenshots I took from the conversation between Karleton Williams And I. He is the person who is creating my backing track.
18/03/20 I completed my landing page for Project 3 on my Weebly site and I also typed up my proposal plan to submit it to my tutor Martin. What went well? Typing up my proposal on my Weebly site went well and the layout of it worked well. What went wrong? Trying to work out what to base my research on and how to effectively find information on song writing on the internet. What would I do differently? I will do more research and make a plan of what I'm going to do and how I will do it it in the future.
23/03/20 I watched videos to do with a mixture of musicians and then had to fill out a questionnaire for my tutor and I added the links in to my questionnaire. Iwatched another video on a band called Anvil and had to answer some questions about it. What went well? Itook voice notes and typed them up on One Note which worked well. What went wrong? Trying to watch the video and taking notes at the same time was difficult as I had to keep pausing the video so I could write notes.
27/03/20 I performed live today in front of my tutor and the other students. It was quite hard to do via Microsoft Teams as it wasn’t the same as being in college. What went well? Singing the song - the song went ok as I like the song and I knew the lyrics. What went wrong? I was not in tune, I missed the beginning of the song so it threw me out. What would I do differently? I will try to attend regular singing lessons and more practice and rehearsals and do vocal warm ups before doing a performance.
30/03/20 Did some work towards project 3, I started to work on my action plan and adding my plan to my action plan. I had do a task related to a crisis. What went well? Working out what to put in to my action plan and listing down my plans. The task related crisis went ok. What went wrong? Trying to work out how to understand a layout of an action plan and working out how to put on my action plan, trying to think of what to write about a crisis. What would I do differently? I will look on the internet for tutorials on how to plan and layout an action plan so I know what I'm doing step by step.
17/04/20 I started working on my Weebly site. I also re-wrote my lyrics and narrowed them down from 7 verses to 4 verses and I did a song blueprint. I also wrote up my proposal. I started to look up primary research and secondary research. What went well? Writing my proposal for the show and a list of what I need to perform. I did well to write a list of ideas to send to the person creating my backing track to let them know what genre I want my song to be. What went wrong? Trying to work out what verses to take from my song as it had 7 verses so it was hard trying to narrow it down. What would I do differently? I will sit down and write down my lyrics and then pick and choose what flows better and goes together well.
22/04/20 I Started to type up my blogs on my Weebly site but before I could save it my internet went down. What went well? Typing up my blogs on my Weebly site went ok. What went wrong? Losing all my work that I typed up on my Weebly site which was frustrating for me losing my work. What would I do differently? I will make sure that all my work and word documents are all backed up and saved onto One Drive.
23/04/20 I sang for all of the hero's and the NHS Staff tonight and I recorded it and uploaded it to social media. What went well? Singing the song went really well, the comments and feedback I have had is amazing really pleased with myself. What went wrong? The sound quality was not very good as I was using a small speaker and the reverb and delay was a bit high as well. What would I do differently? I will make sure that I have a better sound quality speaker so that people will hear me a lot better and a lot clearer.
30/04/20 I finished off my last bit of research today I typed it up on word and then I copied and pasted it to my Weebly site and I also added my screenshots from the conversation between me and Karleton. I completed some more work towards project 3 and in the performance lesson I sang "You Will Never Walk Alone" live. What went well? Doing my last bit of research and my performance went ok. The performance I did this time was better then all my other ones I've done in my opinion. What went wrong? The research was a bit hard as I researched Beethoven and Ed Sheeran. Finding information wasn't easy. My pitching in my performance wasn't great. What would I do differently? I would use different search techniques for my research and different search engines. Also vocal warm ups and rehearse more before performing.
05/05/20 I had conformation today that my backing track is all ready and complete, I just need to rehearse it as soon I get it so I get used to track and my lyrics. What went well? Putting the final lyrics to the backing track went well. Some wording had to be to changed and some words had to be added for it to flow properly. What went wrong? The Mac that was used to create my track on broke down as it had a drink spilt over it so he had to use a different Mac to finish of my backing track for my song.
07/05/20 I had some really good feedback today from my tutor Martin today which was really positive feedback which I was really happy about. I have attached the email that my tutor Martin sent me.
15/05/20 Today I did another performance. I sang my own original song, I have been waiting for the backing track to be done which I have not long got back. I really enjoyed performing this song, it was a song I wrote for someone who was very close to my heart who is longer here. What went well? Everything went really well. I was in time with the backing track, the lyrics flowed lovely together along with the backing track. What went wrong? I had to swap and change some of the lyrics as I was running into the chorus. What would I do differently? I will practice a lot more and rehearse more and keep going through the lyrics to see what flows and what doesn't.
02/06/20 I video recorded myself singing my original song which is going to be produced for the Summer Show. I used my smart phone to record on which was balanced on a makeshift music stand. To be able to hear my vocals, I used a DB Technologies Foldback Monitor, a Pro FX 8 Mixing Desk and a Shure SM58 Microphone. I applied to take part in The Voice 2021 auditions. I applied last year but unfortunately didn't make it through. I feel I have improved a lot this year so I am excited to give it another go. What went well? I thought singing the song went really well, I kept well in tune with backing track music. I felt confident within myself and it really showed in the performance. What went wrong? I had limited space to do the recording in which made me feel a bit cramped. I would feel more confident in a bigger recording space. I also have the issue of lack of soundproofing which creates the problem of all the sounds bouncing off the walls. What would I do differently? I will research into different ways of soundproofing a room to create a more suitable recording environment.
